This year the Chengdu Pandas Rugby Club compete in the inaugural China Southern League, a full 15-a-side league to be contested between Chengdu, Xiamen Typhoons, Hangzhou Harlequins, Shenzhen Dragons & Guangzhou Rams. In what should be a hotly contested competition, Chengdu will hope a favourable spread of home fixtures will result in them being the first victors. As well as seeking glory in the league, they will hope to retain their ‘Wok’ (2nd tier) Trophy at the annual Xiamen 10s, China’s premier Rugby event. On top of this they will seek to win the Southwest China 10s Cup, competing with Kunming & Chongqing, with the season coming to a close with the well loved social rugby 7s tournament in June.

We from Chengdu Beer were present with a keg of fresh craft beer at the opening weekend (March 2nd) and will try to come over with cold refreshment as much as possible.

The Chengdu’s women’s rugby team – The Ruckin’ Reds – come back into existence. With a tour plus some home fixtures, the girls will be looking to grow the club.

The Ruckin Reds have a FUNdraiser on Saturday 9 March in Shramrock (starts 9:30pm). Go meet the heavenly ladies of Ruckin Reds and have a devilish night with them.
What: Angels & Demonds, raffle prizes, rugby player auction, performances, beer olympics and more! More info on our website soon.
