The Abbey Averbode plans on brewing its own beer, after an almost 100 year of brewing-inactivity. The profit will be used to renovate and maintain the buildings and grounds of the abbey. For this project, Abbey Averbode co-operates with Brewery Huyghe, known for its beer ‘Delirium Tremens’.

In this way, Abbey Averbode honours its past, as beer has been brew in the abbey from the 14th till the 20th century. The beer will be granted the name ‘Abdijbier Averbode’.

The first versions of this beer should be available in the beginning of 2014.
